CLUB CHAMPION – TYRES & MORE

This slippery 13ft skiff has won the Club Championship two years running. Skippered by Matt Stenta who still races in the Flying 11 Division is also looking to join the 16ft Skiff Division next season. Crew mate, Josh McKnight has also come up through the ranks of our Junior Division and both have displayed a tenacity for being the fastest boat on the course.

OVERALL HANDICAP CHAMPION – FLUID BUILDING SERVICES

The crew on Fluid Building Services is a family affair with sisters, Georgia and Alanna Clancy scoring consistent handicap wins to claim the Overall Point Score for the 2009-2010 season. Although Tyres & More won the Club Champsionship, Fluid Building Services managed to beat them across the line twice throughout the series to show they are not just a handicap contender.

DIVISION SKIFF – NORTHSIDE AIR CONDITIONING

Skipper, Fiona Walker may be the smallest in the fleet but make no mistake she is very competitive when racing. Together with her crew they managed to win the Car Needs Tyres & More Crews Trophy Point Score, placed second in the 2nd Half Season Point Score and scored third in the Overall Handicap Point Score.

OPENING SEASON CHALLENGE AGAINST THE ELEMENTS

The start of the sailing season was welcomed by a beautiful Manly morning, it was great to see the skiffs all lined up along East Esplanade getting ready to compete in their first race. What a difference a few hours make, by the time the race started the wind and swell had kicked in for a tempestuous afternoon of racing.

Making the decision to test their skills against the gusty conditions, 17 skiffs set sail across the 13ft & 16ft Skiff Classes. It was to be a baptism of fire, the wind increased throughout the race with the Committee boat recording consistent 30 knot S-SE breezes in very lumpy sea conditions.
