With a racing history dating back to 1923, Manly 16ft Skiff Sailing Club has evolved into a premier racing venue, offering our members excellence in service and facilities to further promote our passion for the sport of sailing.

Situated in an ideal location at Manly Cove, we offer racing for the 16ft, 13ft, Flying Eleven and Manly Junior divisions. Each weekend during the sailing season you will see these divisions race on the waters of Sydney Harbour with the support of our dedicated Race Management team.

Our sailing program is designed to fully support our sailors in their desire to experience fun, action-packed racing in a competitive environment, offering a range of classes to suit all levels and age groups.

The Club’s dominance in racing has resulted in numerous victories across all divisions in past years at a National and State level. Most recently, our success in the 2010-2011 racing season included wins in the National and State Championships in the 13ft, 16ft and Flying 11 Divisions. Congratulations go the crews of Bell Potter Securities (13ft National Champion) Fluid Building Services (16ft NSW State Champion), Boris (F11 National Champion) and The Big Apple (F11 NSW State Champion) respectively.

The “skiffies” fraternity provides a welcoming atmosphere for all sailors. For further information on our race program please contact our Sailing Manager, Jackie Damiani.

OPENING SEASON CHALLENGE AGAINST THE ELEMENTS

The start of the sailing season was welcomed by a beautiful Manly morning, it was great to see the skiffs all lined up along East Esplanade getting ready to compete in their first race. What a difference a few hours make, by the time the race started the wind and swell had kicked in for a tempestuous afternoon of racing.

Making the decision to test their skills against the gusty conditions, 17 skiffs set sail across the 13ft & 16ft Skiff Classes. It was to be a baptism of fire, the wind increased throughout the race with the Committee boat recording consistent 30 knot S-SE breezes in very lumpy sea conditions.
